The Attitude of Silence

JUST THINKING OF OUR ATTITUDE OF SILENCE IN THE MIDST PENDING CATASTROPHE.

Our attitude of get it quick by hook or by crook is spreading like wildfire. We do not think or care about the immediate and long term consequences of our actions as long as there are immediate gains.

Our nonchalance to evil in all its ramifications is gradually consuming us.

The intellectuals and the rich are so afraid of stepping out of their comfort zone because they believe that they have the means to pay for their needs and buy their way through, but are they not sitting on a keg of gun powder?

The masses are programmed to believe that it could be worse and so they sit in silence and watch as many of their own slump into preventable deaths.

We don’t think and we don’t find solutions but we make jest of a consuming fire. If we have foods and drinks for the day we make merry without thinking of the future of our children and the teeming youths. When we are frustrated, we grumble but we don’t question the leadership and we don’t take any action.

We pray and fast and blame God for our woes. If God were like mortal men, he would have cut us off from the race of decent human beings.

Our leaders talk of re-election without talking of achievements, yet we support them in anticipation of the crumbs from their tables.

We follow them because they are the reflection of what we are as a people. ‘The get what you want through the back door from the powers-that-be’ is gradually making us a nation of mediocrity and we are racing there with full speed.

When are we going to take full control of our lives and become the architect of our future?
